I use my camera to define and shape a personal and intuitive response to the world around me. My photographic work is concerned with universal themes which affect us all at certain times of our lives – the passage of time, ageing, memory, absence and loss but also the pleasure in noticing and recording the ordinary or the overlooked. Through my camera viewfinder I observe the daily and seasonal nuances which alter our domestic, rural and urban spaces, preferring to take my inspiration from life as it unfolds, rather than staging or manipulating my photographs. Instead, I seek to frame the mundane stuff of daily life in unexpected ways, creating fresh perspectives on the everyday.

My particular interest lies in photographing the urban landscape, incorporating chance elements and exploring the nature of serendipity, coincidence and connections. The images are then combined into sequences in book form to emphasise the underlying relationships between the apparently random and haphazard, celebrating the accidental and the spontaneous. My latest project ‘Par Hazard – an A-Z of Chance Encounters’ documents a series of journeys centred on the London A-Z where each book records a single day’s journey, subject to a different chance strategy selected by a throw of the dice.

A recent graduate of the MA Photography course at de Montfort University, Leicester, I am based in Oxfordshire and London, and represented in the UK by Troika Editions.
